I'll stamp all over 'legitimate boxer' Paul - Anthony Joshua
Anthony Joshua is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight round contest which will be shown in real-time on the streaming platform.
British boxer Joshua declared he will "stamp all over" the American and "break" his opponent as the two fighters confronted each other to publicize next month's bout.
Ex two-time world boxing king Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, theoretically, a mammoth uneven pairing - at Miami's arena on 19 December.
Boxer's Mindset
"I will damage his features and hurt his body. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35, said.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.
"I will seriously aim to injure him. That's my goal."
Respectful Interaction
In spite of such comments, a calm Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - usually famous for his dramatics - were respectful and remained civil with each other.
Jake Paul instead targeted former Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and described him as "not serious" after the Cameroonian declined a fight offer.
Taking Aim at Fury
Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at British opponent Tyson Fury - and rejected a large bet 'The Gypsy King' states he will put on a Paul victory.
"[Paul] is superior to Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua said.
"I respect him for that."
Serious Opponent
Despite stating he plans to damage his opponent, Joshua chose not to comment unfavorably about his opponent's pugilistic talent.
"Jake Paul is a serious fighter," he said.
Jake Paul's Background
Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has primarily boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since becoming pro.
He was defeated by Briton Fury in last year.
Commercial Attraction
Still, the relative newcomer is still one of boxing's largest money-making draws, consistently making substantial financial rewards.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28 year old predicted a stoppage in round four or five and claimed he would derail the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly being planned for 2026.
"It will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul stated.
Physical Difference
As Joshua and Paul met for the traditional stare-down, with their size difference evident, it emphasized just how surprising this complete situation is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is really happening.
