The second-hand marketplace Members Express Frustration Over Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
